Specialized Analysis
Martec has developed several advanced analysis software
packages for naval architecture and marine engineering
applications.
UNDEX is a software
tool for modeling and analyzing the effects of underwater
explosions on ships, submarines and offshore structures.
UNDEX supports a variety of charge types to perform
far field shock analysis, far field bubble analysis
and near field bubble analysis. UNDEX is used in combination
with Trident FEA for advanced top-down (global/local),
natural frequency, base motion and response spectrum
analysis. UNDEX also contains links to the underwater
shock analysis code USA, the contained fluid analyzer
code CFA, and the hydrodynamic analysis code FD-WaveLoad.
AVAST software
is used for the numerical prediction of the acoustic
radiation and scattering from floating or submerged
elastic structures immersed in either infinite, half-space
or finite depth fluid domains. AVAST combines both
the finite element method for the structure and the
boundary integral equation technique for the fluid.
The finite element method is used to predict the natural
frequencies and related mode shapes of the structure
in-vacuo. The boundary integral equation method is
used to define a relationship between the surface
pressure and the normal surface velocities. The fluid-structure
coupling is effected through matching the surface
normal velocities.
